BHM group Develops Another Battery Energy Storage Project in Finland for Investor Second Foundation

Prague, 9 January 2026 - BHM Renewables, part of the investment group BHM group, continues to expand its activities in modern energy and energy storage. Through its subsidiary Winda Energy Oy, BHM has developed a battery energy storage project with an output of 50 MW and a capacity of 100 MWh in the town of Jämsä in central Finland, which has now been acquired by Second Foundation. The project now enters the implementation phase.

Winda Energy, in which BHM has held a majority stake since 2017, has been involved in the project since the early stages of development and will be responsible for its construction and technical implementation.

The Jämsä project builds on the battery energy storage facility in the town of Rautavaara, whose construction began last year, and confirms the growing role of Winda Energy in the Finnish battery energy storage systems (BESS) market. The project investor, technology company Second Foundation, will invest in construction and ensure the optimal operation of the facility.

"At BHM Renewables, we focus on identifying and developing promising projects in the field of energy transition, which we prepare together with Winda Energy from an early stage through to technical and economic readiness," says Michal Prause, Associate Partner at BHM Renewables. "The Jämsä battery energy storage project is another example of this approach and at the same time confirms Winda Energy's strong position in the Finnish market."

Once completed, the Jämsä battery energy storage facility will rank among the largest of its kind in Finland. The project will contribute to the stabilization of the power grid, particularly through rapid response to grid fluctuations and more efficient balancing of electricity supply and demand. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026.

In addition to battery energy storage systems, BHM Renewables and Winda Energy also have extensive experience in developing and constructing wind power plants in Finland, including a transaction with BlackRock with a total capacity of 220 MW.

Through BHM Renewables, BHM group has long been investing in renewable energy sources and flexible energy solutions with the aim of supporting energy security, grid stability, and the transition to low-emission energy across Europe.
